The Art of Hand Painting Kitchens

With over four decades of experience, True colours discussed the skill and artistry needed to paint a kitchen to a high standard. He guided us all the way…

“I have a system. A lot of work goes into prep. After it dries, I’ll use a powerful vacuum to remove any dust particles. I then leave them on a wire rack to secure them before using a needle cloth to remove any remaining dust.’

Then I paint the doors on a horizontal surface to make sure the paint is smooth. Then I use a roller to even out the color. we gently smooth it over the surface… it’s tricky if you press too hard on the brush to spread the color, you add too many strokes. There is art in it.

Despite having worked in the industry for so long, True colours showed enthusiasm and pride in his work. I want to paint each kitchen better than the last. If it doesn’t fit, I’ll start over. I wouldn’t leave a shop door that I wasn’t happy with. I’ve been doing this since and never had a complaint back then.
